Testing the Strain Gauges

  • Unsolder the cables from the amplifier board
  • Connect the wires
    • Connect red to +10VDC
    • Connect black to 0VDC.
    • Connect white to multimeter (-)
    • Connect green to multimeter (+)
  • Measure the VDC (mV).
    • Full sensor range: 20mV.
  • When no load is applied on the sensor, the output should be between 0 and +10mV (Preload on the sensor).
    • You can remove the cover and untighten the 2 screws in the middle (the ones below the cover) to remove the preload, then, the reading should be 0+-0.2mV. If not, the sensor may be damaged.
  • The voltage reading should be linear with the increased load.
